Tell us about your educational background.

I received my law degree from the University of San Diego. I went to undergrad at the University of Arizona (go Wildcats!) in Tucson, Arizona.

Where did you work before heading to Maier Law Group?

During law school, I focused on working in the public sector and wanted to be a criminal defense lawyer. Then, I spent the beginning of my practice in big law, always practicing labor and employment defense. I guess you could say my career went a different direction than planned, but I have absolutely no regrets and couldn't imagine doing anything differently.

How long have you been practicing law?

I have been practicing law for 5 years.

Tell us a little about where you grew up, and some of your favorite things about growing up there.

I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. My favorite things about growing up there are the cacti, the desert nights, and of course the sunsets. My least favorite thing? The scorpions!

Do you have a favorite vacation?

Yes, it was definitely where I went on my honeymoon, to Istanbul, Turkey. We traveled around the country, too, and I loved everywhere we visited.

Is there a family legacy that lives on through you?

It would have to be my sense of humor and compassion.

Who are some of the special people in  your life?

Right now, the most special person to me is my 18-month-old daughter, Margot, and her dad (my husband) of course.

If money were no object and you could do anything in the world, what would you do?

I would be a coffee barista. I worked at a number of cafes during high school, and they were some of my favorite jobs.

How do you define joy?

Joy is being surrounded by people who enrich my life and doing fulfilling work.

Name three things that you do or would like to do to find joy in daily life. These could be mini habits, routines, resolutions, projects, etc.:

  • Exercise and meditate more,

  • learn to play an instrument, and

  • spend more time with friends.

Joy in the Law is delighted to present Profiles of Joy. In every post, we will feature an attorney and who she is today. Read other Profiles of Joy here.
