How long have you been practicing?

20 years,  yikes!

How do you define joy?

A wholesome feeling of happiness that touches your soul.

What does Joy in the Law mean to you?

First and foremost,  it means living my values in my law practice.  Second, it means promoting those values with my cherished team of the best attorneys and staff on the planet (all women too, hooray!). Third, joy in the law means engaging in legal work that is fulfilling and fun and being willing to make a change when it stops feeling that way.

What are some things that you do or would like to do to find joy in daily life:

  • meditate every day

  • walk somewhere beautiful

  • nap

  • laugh.

Name a few resources that have inspired you to find joy:

  • Spirit Rock and silent meditation retreats

  • The Awakening Joy course

  • Insight Timer

  • Mindfulness Bell

  • anything funny!

Knowing what you know now about lawyering, what would you tell your younger self if you could?

It will all work out if you just follow your passion.

Final words?

Nothing is worth staying in a job that you doesn't make you happy.  But that also doesn't mean that everything will make you happy all the time.  Turn toward not away from the dark moments.
